Spring in the PNW isn’t clear cut, at all. Yesterday (when we snapped these pictures) the sun was bright, and the sky was clear blue. The week before it was nearly 60 degrees and we were dreaming of summer hiking trips. This tease hung around all week, and we pulled the bikes out of the garage and began to imagine our little family cycling all around town, so excited for what Summer would bring.
Wholesale forgetting… this is the PNW. Nothing is promised. March will arrive the day after tomorrow, and today? It’s snowing flakes so fine and beautiful that my little heart is thinking “oh, just one last snowy hike?” for this weekend. Because, I’m just as fickle as the weather, and love the changes so much.
The best way to thrive in the PNW spring/”spring” weather is layers. Cozy, comfy, movable, soft, layers. I am so excited to be working with Prana this season to share some of their Spring looks! These soft Joggers are perfect to toss on with boots or shoes on colder days, and sandals at the beach. Their wide waistband is soft and so comfortable, I know these are going to be my go-to with a swimsuit top all beach-day’s long.
But for now, I adore them with a cropped jacket, layered up with a hat and scarf. Pants like this are integral for my wardrobe. I keep my closet pretty small, so my clothes must be comfortable, movable, still look pulled together, and must span several seasons. Otherwise, I just end up donating them! Another thing I love about these pants is how I can bend and squat in them – my kiddos are getting older, and somehow I thought that meant I would be running around after them less. But if you have ever tried to balance a new biker while running, holding them up, and also offering encouraging “You’ve got this!” …. that’s a workout that leaves you beat. And these pants made it through the test.
If you want to check them out, they’re called the Annexi Pant and I highly recommend them. Not only are they comfortable, they’re also easy to turn into a fancier look (these with some ankle booties? Someone, quick, take me on a date)!
This is the Katya Top, another classic piece. I loved all the color options, but I adore white tops for sunny weather. This one is nice, breezy, light weight, but still feels sturdy enough to hold up to hiking around in, washing, and layering. I chose it, again, for its versatility. I think it will look great with shorts on a hike, but also dressed up with pants or tucked in with a cute high-waisted skirt.
Prana is one of my favorite clothing lines for a few reasons (obviously how well it all fits, and how much it fits my style!). But, chief among them, is their dedication to sustainability and fair working conditions. They care deeply for people and our environment. I’m slowly working to eliminate ‘fast fashion!’ from my wardrobe, and wearing sustainable, well made, high quality, and not unregulated factory created items, is really important to me. You can learn more about how they maintain these standards here.

I can’t wait to really ring in some Spring weather soon in these clothes, but for now I’m loving how both work with layers. Also, obviously, they passed the upside down test (an important one!).
