Why do you like to hike?
Because it’s always fun! Sometimes we go with friends. And I like going one on one with my family, and my friends. Because you’re out in the free outside and there’s lots of tree’s to climb. Well, I really like to be in the wild, because I feel like it’s really fun.
What is your favorite thing to see on a hike?
Probably, hmmmmm, pretty flowers. Why I like seeing flowers is because they make me feel like the wild isn’t all green. And you feel like there so many colors and all sorts of things.
What’s your favorite hike? Why?
Teddy Bear Cove. Because it’s short down, and once we got to see glowing plankton, biolumincence.
What is a hiking memory you have?
When we hiked to the lake, and found dragon eggs. I found an earth dragon, an alpha dragon, and a sand dragon. It was so much fun!
How do you feel in the outdoors?
Really, really, really, happy. I feel like I’ve just come out into a new world, and it always feels so good. Feels like my heart beats out of my body.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve seen on a hike?
A dead mouse! I’ve never seen a dead mouse and I felt like it was really interesting to see something dead, right on the trail, because we didn’t see it on the way up but did on the way out, so I wondered who killed it.
What is the scariest thing you’ve seen on a hike?
When a friend fell off a log we were climbing on. Sad, with a mixture of curious. Curious about what happened, how, and if he was ok. And wondering. And, like, when we saw a sign for cougars I thought they would come up to us. Now I know to yell, be big, and say GO AWAY COUGAR.
What advice would you give to another kid-hiker?
It’s really fun and I’m sure you’ll like it a lot… I mean, A LOT. Watch out and be aware on the hike, because you never know what could be there!
